Outcome of parish council proposal in Broughton Park area set for November
Salford City Councillors will decide on the proposal for a parish council in the Broughton Park area at the next full council meeting on Wednesday 19 November 2025.

The council is collating survey results from the recent three-month statutory consultation with residents, businesses and community and voluntary groups in the area. Located in the east of the city, the Broughton Park area includes parts of the Kersal and Broughton Park ward and parts of the Boughton ward.
Surjit Tour, City Solicitor and Statutory Monitoring Officer at Salford City Council commented:
“We’d like to thank everyone who took part in the consultation and gave us their views on the proposal for a parish council in the Broughton Park area. The survey response rate was very high and we are confident that the council ensured every opportunity for everyone in the area to have their say.
We believe it is in the interests of the community and good governance for the council to make a timely decision on this issue so have prioritised bringing the results together. This will enable us to bring a report to members for consideration at full council in November.”
The consultation was part of a community governance review which looks at how local communities are represented and governed at a local level, a legal requirement following a valid petition. Survey feedback as well as other factors from community considerations to operational and financial issues will inform council recommendations. Briefing papers on the community governance review will be published on the council’s website on Wednesday 12 November, a week before the full council meeting.
The report will be presented at a full council meeting on Wednesday 19 November when councillors will decide whether the proposal should be accepted or rejected. Taking place at Swinton’s town hall, this meeting is open to the public who can watch from the public gallery on a first come-first served basis. The meeting will be livestreamed as well as recorded to watch afterwards. All details, including the briefing papers can be viewed at www.salford.gov.uk/full-council from Wednesday 12 November.
Following the meeting, the outcome will be published on the council’s website at www.salford.gov.uk/community-governance where a map of the geographical area under review can also be viewed.
