The countdown is officially on: there are just 100 days to go until the Women’s Rugby World Cup 2025 kicks off - and Salford will play a key role in this history-making tournament.

Salford Community Stadium will host four matches as part of the biggest Women’s Rugby World Cup ever. With 16 nations competing and over 300,000 tickets already sold, excitement is building across the country.

To mark the milestone, a brand new Women’s Rugby World Cup trophy has been unveiled - designed to celebrate the global growth of the women’s game and honour the trailblazers who paved the way.

The trophy is now going on tour, visiting all eight host cities - including Salford - in the run-up to the tournament.

Councillor Hannah Robinson-Smith said:

“Salford is proud to be a host city for the Women’s Rugby World Cup 2025, and we can’t wait to welcome fans to the Salford Community Stadium next year. We’re thrilled the trophy will be coming to Salford Quays on 30 May — it’s a fantastic opportunity for people to be part of the countdown to this incredible event. We hope it inspires a new generation of players and supporters across our city. I’d encourage everyone to come down, take a look, and join us in celebrating this exciting moment for women’s sport.”

Salford is one of just eight locations across England chosen to host matches. The tournament runs from 22 August to 27 September 2025, with the final at Twickenham Stadium.

Tickets are now back on sale, including for Salford matches: tickets.rugbyworldcup.com

Fans can also join the “Road to Twickenham” challenge via the official WRWC 2025 app.
