Build Salford partner F&T Terrix wins ‘Training Excellence’ award for delivery of Build Salford programmes

F&T Terrix, a valued partner of Build Salford, has been named a winner in the ‘Training Excellence’ category at the Construction News Specialists Awards 2025, held at the Royal Lancaster London on Tuesday 2 September 2025.

The award recognises F&T Terrix’s outstanding collaborative approach to workforce development. Their various training programmes, delivered in partnership with Build Salford, have addressed workforce development gaps, provided free skills training to the local community, and created sustainable employment pathways. Judges praised the initiatives for their high quality, strong impact, and potential to be replicated nationally as a best-practice model.

An initial programme saw nine residents of all ages and abilities attend two weeks of training delivered in partnership with CWS, Salford Employment Hub and F&T Terrix on a Domis construction site, before eight jobs were offered to the candidates. The programme was designed to remove barriers into the construction sector and to develop residents’ skills. It also gave employers involved access to work-ready candidates, who took up the job opportunities post-programme.

Another standout programme that contributed to the award win was a brickslips programme hosted at the newly-launched Peel Green Construction Skills Centre in Eccles, where seven women took part in a hands-on training course. Six completed the programme, and one secured an apprenticeship offer within the first week. The group gained on-site experience with CWS at the Domis Obsidian site in Salford. Four participants were offered job opportunities following the programme.

This initiative is part of a broader commitment to Modern Methods of Construction (MMC) training, with F&T Terrix sponsoring a sprayplastering training booth at the Peel Green Construction Skills Centre, and supporting construction upskilling for residents who were NEET (Not in Education, Employment or Training). Training was open to all ages and was designed to remove barriers to employment by combining manufacturer-led system training with on-site supervision and support from the Salford Employment Hub.

Congratulations to all partners who were involved in making the award win possible.
