Celebrating Boothstown’s rich history
Boothstown Residents Association celebrate the heritage of Boothstown by creating a new history plinth.
In Autumn 2004, Boothstown Residents Association set out to celebrate the heritage of Boothstown by creating a new history plinth at Stanfield Precinct Green.
Working with Worsley Civic Trust and Boothstown Village Hall, their aim was to design an installation that would be accessible, engaging, and a lasting tribute to the local area’s history.
The design was developed by local firm Schofield and Sons, with support from designer Leigh Walsh and M&A Brown Signs, who kindly donated their expertise to bring the vision to life.
The project was completed in March 2025, thanks to the hard work and generosity of local businesses, a grant from Salford City Council, funding from Boothstown Community Centre, and the support of local councillors.
Councillor Hannah Robinson-Smith, Lead Member for Culture, Heritage, Equalities, Sports and Leisure, praised the Residents Association for their efforts, saying:
"Boothstown has a proud history, and it’s wonderful to see local people taking the lead in celebrating it. This new plinth is a fantastic addition to the heart of our community, and I’d like to thank Boothstown Residents Association and everyone involved for their hard work and dedication in bringing it to life. It’s a brilliant way to showcase Boothstown’s rich heritage and community spirit – and I hope it will be enjoyed for many years to come."
Vincent Nash, Neighbourhood Manager at Salford City Council, also welcomed the project, adding:
"It’s inspiring to see local people coming together to celebrate Boothstown’s history and make a positive difference in their community."
Residents are encouraged to visit Standfield Precinct Green to explore Boothstown’s fascinating history.
