Exciting events planned across Salford for Learning Disability Week 2025

There are lots of fun and informative activities for people with learning disabilities, their carers and families during Learning Disability Week 2025 (16 to 22 June).

There are exercise and relaxation sessions, listening to families groups, sensory walks, advice on health and wellbeing, a social club, martial arts, snow sports, a film screening and lots more!

Together with Northern Care Alliance, Salford City Council is highlighting a big health week so people with learning disabilities can have fun, enjoy time together and find out a range of useful information.
The theme of Mencap’s annual awareness week, this year, is "Do you see me?" which is all about people with a learning disability being seen, heard and valued.

Many people with a learning disability, may find everyday activities challenging – for example household tasks, socialising or managing money. Other people with a learning disability need to be fully supported in all areas of their life, including communicating, personal care, and staying safe.

Lead Member for Adult Social Care and Health Councillor John Merry said: “We hope people with learning disabilities and their carers and families can really enjoy all the sessions during the week to help them connect with each other and find advice and support. Many people with learning disabilities can develop new skills throughout their lives. We want to make sure they have the right support and are able to connect with their local community to thrive.”
