Performance update on the council creating a fairer, greener, healthier and more inclusive city

Salford City Council has published its latest annual performance report  (Adobe PDF format, 4.2mb) showing progress on delivering results for each of the seven priorities outlined in its corporate plan, This is Our Salford, launched last year.

From recognition by the property industry as City of the Year and planting over 2,000 trees, to improving school attendance and building over 2,500 new homes, the council is working hard to make Salford an amazing place for all the people that live and work in the city.

Salford City Council and its partners have helped ten companies and businesses to relocate to Salford or expand. This has created 1,941 new jobs and will contribute an additional £118 million to Salford’s economy.

As part of tackling poverty and inequality, the council’s welfare rights and debt advice service has helped Salford residents’ access over £11.8 million. It’s also proud to have created its own winter support scheme and paid out over £500,000 to over 2,500 pensioner households.

Other highlights include establishing a Literacy Hub that has already provided over 8,000 books to children and families with the greatest literacy need and supporting 28,920 customers get online with digital skills and assistance. The council has served 41,342 meals as part of the Holiday Activities and Food programme and provided 1,615 take and make boxes for families to cook meals at home.

Salford City Council’s initiatives are making a positive difference to residents with some great successes. Visit www.salford.gov.uk/performance to see some key achievements under each corporate priority and the full report. This was also published in our Life in Salford magazine, recently delivered to every household in the city.

As well as the annual report, the council reports progress on delivering its priorities quarterly to the Corporate Management Team (CMT) and Lead Members at Cabinet meetings. These are also published on the council’s performance webpage so residents can keep up to date on progress towards our vision - to create a fairer, greener, healthier and more inclusive city for all.

To achieve this vision, Salford City Council set out seven interconnected priorities as the focus for the council’s work from 2024 to 2028. These are:

·            Good growth

·            A good home for all

·            Tackling poverty and inequality

·            Creating places where people want to live

·            A child friendly city

·            Responding to climate change

·            Healthy lives and quality of care for all
