Salford City Mayor welcomes Lads Club £437,961 grant
Salford City Mayor, Paul Dennett, has welcomed the news that Salford Lads Club has been awarded a £437,961 grant from Historic England.
The funds are to be used to protect and preserve the Grade II listed building on Coronation Street in Ordsall.
Salford City Mayor, Paul Dennett, said: “It is fantastic news that Salford Lads' Club has been awarded this grant. The money will help to pay for vital repairs so the club can stay open.
The club has been at the heart of our city for more than 120 years and has helped guide and support tens of thousands of young people during that time. It is now open to young people of all genders, providing everything from boxing and gymnastics to music sessions and arts and crafts.
We are extremely lucky to have the club based in this great city, and I look forward to the next successful chapter in its history.”
In October, the council confirmed an agreement to provide significant funding to help support Salford Lads Club. The decision saw £100k committed to the club with immediate effect to help the club keep its doors open, remain operating and providing essential support to local children and young people.
