Salford honours our Armed Forces
The city of Salford will commemorate Armed Forces Week by hosting a number of events including a flag raising ceremony on Monday 23 June 2025 and a community parade on Saturday 28 June 2025.
Armed Forces Week is an annual event. Towns and cities across the country host events to celebrate the work of service personnel, reservists, veterans, cadets and service families and friends.
Salford residents are being encouraged to join the commemorative events and come together to pay tribute to our service personnel.
Salford’s Armed Forces Day Parade which will take place on Saturday 28 June will begin at Dukes Drive Car Park, Monton at 10.30am, concluding at Winton Park, on Dover Street, where the family fun day will commence.
There will be fun activities including small children’s rides, face painting, a climbing wall, magician and lots of other great entertainment.
Service personnel, veterans and their families will all take part in the parade and will be joined by Salford’s Reservists and Cadet Units, Salford’s Ceremonial Mayor Councillor Heather Fletcher and Salford City Mayor Paul Dennett.
Salford’s Ceremonial Mayor Councillor Heather Fletcher, said: “Armed Forces Week will provide communities across Salford with a chance to come together to pay tribute to our Armed Forces past and present. It’s an important occasion dedicated to showing appreciation and support for the military community and is a time for us to come together to acknowledge the sacrifices and contributions made by the Armed Forces.”
Tributes to our Armed Forces will be spread across Salford including town hall banners displayed on Salford Civic Centre in Swinton to show support for our Armed Forces community.
Salford is also hosting a flag raising ceremony for Armed Forces Week on Monday 23 June 2025 at 10.30am to 11am. The event will take place on the front steps of Salford Civic Centre.
Salford City Mayor Paul Dennett added: “Our Armed Forces remain in our thoughts, and I’d like to thank them and all their families for all they do to protect our country. I am proud to stand alongside our Armed Forces community and residents of our great city, joining with the rest of the country in remembrance and gratitude."
